Make it easy and engaging for your students to learn human physiology with Vernier data-collection solutions. Whether your lesson focuses on measuring heart rate, lung function, or blood pressure, our tools promote hands-on learning that helps deepen comprehension about how our bodies work—and gets students excited about studying human physiology.
This package includes seven sensors, which all work with our Vernier Graphical Analysis® app and LabQuest® 3. Two useful accessories are also included.
What’s in the package:
GDP-HP-ST $980
Want a preview of one of our favorite human physiology experiments? Download “Intro to Electrocardiography” and teach students how to recognize the different wave forms seen in an EKG and associate these wave forms with activity of the heart.
The Go Direct EKG Sensor measures electrical activity in the heart and electrical signals produced during muscle contractions. The wireless options minimize the concern of cables getting caught and tangled during experiments. This sensor provides two separate outputs: one optimized for standard 3-lead EKG tracings and one optimized for surface EMG recordings. EMG recordings can also be rectified automatically by the sensor.
GDX-EKG $169
Hands-on learning opportunities include
Designed for versatility, the Go Direct Blood Pressure Sensor is a noninvasive sensor that measures human blood pressure. It measures systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure using the oscillometric method. The Go Direct Blood Pressure Sensor can also report pulse rate and display both individual pressure pulses and peak-to-peak pulse amplitudes, giving students a few ways to collect data.
The sensor indicator light provides immediate user feedback, letting students know when blood pressure parameters have been reported. The sensor has both USB and wireless capabilities; students can monitor blood pressure anywhere using any compatible device.
GDX-BP $125
Hands-on learning opportunities include
The Go Direct Hand Dynamometer can be used to measure grip and pinch strength and to perform muscle fatigue studies. This sensor directly connects via Bluetooth® wireless technology or USB to student devices. Students can correlate muscle strength and fatigue when they pair the Go Direct Hand Dynamometer with the Go Direct EKG Sensor.
GDX-HD $129
Hands-on learning opportunities include
Measure human breathing patterns quickly with the Go Direct Respiration Belt, which connects via Bluetooth® wireless technology or USB to your device. The Go Direct Respiration Belt uses a force sensor and an adjustable nylon strap around the chest to measure respiration effort and rate. An LED indicator provides feedback so belt tension can be optimized. Respiration rate is reported in our Graphical Analysis app, which makes comparison studies between subjects or experiments easy to do.
GDX-RB $119
Hands-on learning opportunities include
Help your students get to know the skin they’re in with our human physiology sensors! Watch our director of biology, John Melville, demonstrate how to use our Go Direct Hand Dynamometer and Go Direct EKG Sensor.
As you implement data-collection technology into your teaching, we’re here to support you! Looking to learn more about our physiology products or have questions about ordering? Reach out to our team. As a former biology professor, Dr. Sara Tallarovic is here to answer all of your questions.
